The story
The Farmall A was a small one-plow row-crop tractor that International Harvester launched in 1939 to replace the F-14. It packed a number of new ideas into a cheap, light machine and sold well.
Its best-known feature was the engine and seat set off to the left, over a wide front axle, so the driver could look straight down at the crop row. Early tractors used the four-cylinder C113 engine, and the A-1 moved to the C123.
The design lived on as the Super A, which brought hydraulics, then the 100, 130 and 140, with the family lasting until 1973.
