The story
The Model GP, short for General Purpose, was a row-crop tractor that John Deere built from 1928 to 1935. It started as a two-plough machine and was later able to handle three ploughs.
Deere designed it to take on International Harvester's Farmall Regular, which had shown how useful a general-purpose tractor could be. When it was first launched the tractor was called the Model C.
Did you knowIt was first called the Model C, but the name was changed because 'C' and 'D' were too easy to confuse over the telephone lines of the day.
