The story

The 340 was a medium row-crop tractor that International Harvester added to the Farmall range in 1957. Although it followed the 350 in the line-up, it was a fresh design with nothing carried over from that model.

It was offered with gasoline or diesel power, the diesel being heavier at about 5,195 lb against 4,735 lb for the gasoline tractor. The Farmall-badged version stayed in production until 1963, while versions sold under the International and International Harvester names carried on until 1965.

Did you knowWith full ballast its weight rose to about 7,579 lb, well over half as much again as the unballasted gasoline tractor.
